Whyalla – it’s time to have your say on the future of YOUR foreshore!

Last week we made the draft foreshore master plan publicly available, now we need to hear from residents on how you want to see the area developed over the coming years.

“This is the community’s foreshore, so this upgrade needs to represent the community’s priorities, needs and aspirations,” Mayor Clare McLaughlin said.

“We can only achieve this if residents take part in this consultation, so that we know what they like about the current proposals and what they want to see prioritised.”

There are a number of ways that residents can have their say:

  • Check out council’s website or Facebook page
  • Scan the QR code found on posters around the city
  • Visit council’s Civic Building, library or Visitor Information Centre to secure a physical copy of the survey and the draft plan
  • Attend the in-person workshop any time between 11am-6pm next Friday 24 September at the Whyalla Sports Fishing Club (Buttlingarra Way, Whyalla foreshore)
  • Provide your feedback direct by emailing foreshore.masterplan@whyalla.sa.gov.au; phoning 8640 3444; or visiting our Civic Building on Darling Terrace

The survey will be open until mid-October, ensuring as many residents as possible can contribute.

Some of the key aspects of the draft plan include:

  • Unique cuttlefish-themed splash park
  • A discovery and information centre
  • Diverse pop-up commercial sites (including evening activities)
  • Connections between the foreshore, Hummock Hill and main street precinct
  • Private investment
