The new walkway will make it easier for all to access the Whyalla Recreation Centre.

Whyalla Council crews have recently completed a new access walkway and added extra disabled parking spaces in the Recreation Centre car parking area.

Concrete kerbing works have been undertaken to develop an unimpeded pedestrian friendly walkway which ensures users can safely navigate from their vehicles to the building entrance.

Parents pushing prams, those people in wheelchairs or with mobility issues will appreciate the smooth concrete pathways that have been cut into the centre kerbing works, seamlessly connecting the different car parking areas and providing a visible, easy to navigate pedestrian friendly pathway.

Line-marking was also undertaken to complement the kerbing works and clearly mark the pedestrian walkway which links the different elements of the carparking area.

The upgrades have also resulted in 8 additional disabled access parking spaces.

Users of the Recreation Centre, who may be accessing the facilities for rehabilitation or treatment, will benefit from this increased ease of access.

Whyalla City Council is committed to providing services, facilities and strategies to ensure residents remain safe, healthy and connected.
