Cleaning out the shed this long weekend? Did you know Whyalla residents can access a free hard waste pick up service?

We’ve got a long weekend coming up, and many residents will take advantage of the extra day to clean out the shed or de-clutter those cupboards.

Well, did you know that Council offers each household one (1x) hard waste pick up every year?

You can arrange to have the following items picked up from the front of your house for FREE:

  • Fridges and freezers with doors removed
  • Furniture, bedding and carpets
  • Metal and timber items up to 2 metres in length
  • TV's, computer equipment and electrical appliances
  • Pottery, crockery and wash basins
  • Washing machines, dryers and stoves
  • Tools and gardening equipment
  • Empty paint tins and lids removed
  • Tree pruning tied in bundles up to 30cm in diameter
  • General waste items able to be handled by two people

To arrange your free hard-waste pick-up call Bedford on 8647 7711, or click on the link for further information https://bit.ly/3soGdMf

Council would also like to encourage everyone to consider if any of your unwanted items can be donated, recycled or put through the kerbside collection service – if you’re not sure what bin to put it in, there’s plenty of information available right here https://www.whichbin.sa.gov.au/tips
