“Very cool and the closest I’ve ever been to cuttlefish! Amazing to see them in such large numbers. Will be back” (Eric from Sydney, stayed 5 days)

“Stunning! So many, so wonderful to see the numbers returning.  Cold, but worth every second!” (Nate & Andy from Adelaide, stayed 2 nights)

“Bucketlist tick! Incredible experience seeing these weird alien creatures up close” (Dan, Nicole & Harry from Pt Lincoln, day trip).

“What an amazing experience! Absolutely gorgeous” (Jeff, Sandra, Alex & Caitlin from Murray Bridge, stayed 2 days).

“Amazing, like a cross between a fish and a carpet.  Incredible!!” (Ava, Denise, Salame & Chris, stayed 3 nights).

“It was so lovely to see something unique and share it with enthusiastic locals.  I loved meeting Spencer” (Bella from Leigh Creek, stayed overnight).

These are just some of the comments from the visitors’ book located at the Stony Point dive site, where people have been taking advantage of the perfect winter conditions and enjoying a glimpse into the magical and entrancing world of cuttlefish.

We asked a visitor as they came out of the water recently if they’d be willing to share their expenditure, they advised that over the two days of their stay they had conservatively spent around $800 include equipment hire, accommodation, petrol, dining out and shopping.

Extrapolate this amount by the many people who are coming here to see the cuttlefish, and you can get an idea of the multiplier effect in full swing.

Cuttlefest has a huge positive impact on our city, bringing in a variety of people who in turn inject outside money into our local economy.

Plus, these happy adventurers then become enthusiastic ambassadors for Whyalla, spreading the love and advising others of their experiences, leading to further increased visitation.

This time of year we can be extra proud of our city, its natural wonders and hospitality, so spread the word, it's time for friends and family to come unearth Whyalla!
