Father Christmas is refusing to let COVID-19 ruin Christmas celebrations this year, with the Whyalla Christmas Pageant going digital!
Damien Trenwith – from pageant organisers Whyalla Apex Club – said although the usual street parade wasn’t feasible under current restrictions, they thought an online event would be a unique way to bring some Christmas cheer to the community.
“Rather than cancel it altogether, we decided to encourage previous float entrants to film themselves on their float and submit it for compilation,” Mr Trenwith said.
“We’re also keen for anyone in the community who wants to send a Christmas message to get involved, so we can have as many residents in the video as possible.”
Mr Trenwith said details would be provided shortly on how to submit the videos, including the timeframe in which they needed to be received.
“Whyalla City Council has kindly volunteered to help compile the videos and we’ll then show the final product on their Facebook page on the night of the pageant,” he said.
“This will enable families to still get together and enjoy the festive spirit from wherever they’d like to watch the event.”
