Whyalla City Council would like to advise the public that the landfill is once again open 7 days.
Council made the difficult decision to close the landfill on weekends during the month of April due to limited resources.
However, service delivery levels are now able to return to normal and the landfill will revert back to its usual operating days and hours.
From Monday 27 April, the landfill will be open:
Weekdays 8:30am- 4:30pm
Weekends 10:00am -4:00pm.
EFTPOS facilities are available with customers encouraged to use cashless forms of payment such as swipe-and-go and contactless cards. Cash will not be accepted due to COVID-19 concerns.
Visitors also need to be mindful of social distancing requirements and to follow any necessary safety instructions.
Council would like to remind residents of other ways to manage household waste without leaving home:
KERBSIDE WASTE COLLECTION
- The usual household collection service continues to run as scheduled.
- Please make sure your car is not blocking your bins and aim to keep your bins at least 1 metre apart from each other and 1 metre away from cars, trees or poles.
- Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Cleanaway drivers will not manually handle the bins and may be unable to empty the bin if it's obstructed.
- Don't forget to put your bins out the night before and keep a safe social distance from the drivers. It’s still ok to give them a wave!
