DOWN TO BASICS: The stripped-down jetty on Wednesday this week.
Friday, September 20, 2019
Work resumed quickly this week on the demolition of the old jetty following last week's fire.
Workers from Maritime Constructions have nearly completed the soft strip of the jetty with the last plank removed earlier this week.

KEY MOMENT: The last of the reconstituted planks is removed from the old jetty this week.
The next step will be cutting the support sections up, dropping them in the water and then towing them to shore. They will then be trucked to the steelworks to be recycled.
This should see Elwood the barge and Chappy the tug joining in the action.
Maritime Constructrions is continuing to monitor the jetty site and the surrounding coast for debris as a result of the fire.
