Whyalla is top ten in Australia when it comes to registrations for next month’s Garage Sale Trail.
Since the City of Whyalla announced it was supporting the nationwide garage sale phenomenon, more than 300 Whyalla residents and groups have registered to take part in the October 19-20 event.
Right now, in just its first year, Whyalla has the seventh most registrations in Australia from hundreds of cities and towns.

Nicki Bruce, the National Council Manager for the Garage Sale Trail, was so impressed she sent Whyalla a congratulations message.
“We're thrilled by your results so far,” Nicki said.
“You're number 7 on the national leaderboard … top ten in your first year is commendable.”
Council Events and Tourism Development Officer, Rebecca Neilson said the registrations were an amazing result and vindication for Council’s support of this nationwide event.
“This is going to be massive … we are going to have more than 300 garage sales happening over two days on October 19 and 20,” Rebecca said.
“This could grow to 350 or even 400 with so much time left to register your sale.
“It is going to be a party-like atmosphere with hundreds and hundreds of sales to go to, some combined gathering of sales, thousands of bargains to be grabbed and a chance to help the environment by recycling these unwanted goods.”
