The Whyalla Tennis Association (WTA) is hosting junior coaching sessions in the second week of the October school holidays.

The family-friendly event includes come-and-try and more advanced coaching sessions on Monday, October 7 to Wednesday October 9 from 9am to 5pm on the 12 courts at 112 Nicolson Avenue at Whyalla Norrie. Each session goes for 90 minutes with accredited coaches from Adelaide.

Over the three days there will also be sessions for mum and dad with the cardio tennis for adults.

Participants don’t need to have played tennis before or even have their own racquet but those that do are encouraged to bring it. Racquets will be provided for those that don’t have them with just sports shoes, appropriate tennis clothes (shorts, skirt and t-shirt) including a hat and sun screen required.

Water and refreshments will available on the day.

It’s all part of a big few months for tennis in Whyalla. This week there were coaching clinics held in the schools. Whyalla players will be competing in the Foundation Cup in Berri with the Whyalla Junior Tournament being played on Saturday, October 12.

The Hotshots season starts on October 15 with the Junior season hitting off on October 18.

For more information contact WTA Junior Coordinator Matthew Wauchope on 0427 765 024. The cost is $25 per day or $65 for three days and goes towards tennis development in Whyalla.
