PATIENCE APPRECIATED: The line up at the second free dump day.
There’s a big lineup for today’s second free dump day but we'll get there.
Thanks for everyone’s patience, we’re going as quick as we can.
For those that miss the 3pm cut-off, we will grab your car rego number and you can come back during the week for free.
These free dump days still cost the city up to $4000 in the Environmental Protection Authority levy alone. That’s not taking into account the wages that still need to be paid without any income for the dump on the day (and not taking into account the council officers out there donating their time).
Many people have called for them to happen more often. A decision to have more of these days would need to be made by the elected members in consultation with the community and then budgeted for. These two free days have been funded as part of the Clean Up Australia Day budget.
