Natural Resources Eyre Peninsula (NREP) has advised the City of Whyalla that all conservation parks around Whyalla will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday, November 20) due to the predicted extreme temperature while the City of Whyalla is advising residents to take care.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a top temperature of 44 degrees for Whyalla with high winds tomorrow. This will result in a “catastrophic” fire danger rating for the West Coast, Eastern Eyre and Lower Eyre for tomorrow.
NREP advises that, in line with the catastrophic danger ratings, the Whyalla Conservation Park, Munyeroo Conservation Park and Iron Stone Hill Conversation Park will be closed. There is a total fire ban in for all parts of South Australia.
Council is advising all residents to take extreme care when going outdoors, to ensure all pets have water and shade and check in on the elderly, sick or those with a disability to ensure they are comfortable and hydrated.

EXTREME: The Bureau of Meteorology's prediction for tomorrow in Whyalla.
Mayor Clare McLaughlin said the danger was very real for people and animals tomorrow.
“It is going to be extreme weather and we don’t want to see anyone, or any animal, suffer tomorrow,” Mayor McLaughlin said.
“If you aren’t working and can stay at home in the cool, and keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water, that is probably the best option.
“There are also places in Whyalla that people can go to stay cool including the public library and major shopping centres while there is always water available and a break from the heat in the Council offices on Darling Terrace.
“Make sure you pets are safe and check in on those that are elderly or could be at risk from the heat.”
In a medical emergency, always call triple zero (000) for an ambulance.
