SAFETY MEASURE: The exclusion zone around the new jetty construction site.

Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Demolition of the old jetty has been completed but the exclusion zone around the construction site on the water still remains in place.

With the old jetty gone, it is now even more important to observe the exclusion zone as work starts on the new structure. The new jetty will be extending out further than old one and the construction process presents a whole new set of dangers for those that don't stay outside the buoys.

People have already been observed "cutting the corner" on the northern side of the zone as they come back into the marina.

This practice could result in a serious incident with underwater cables and vessels in the exclusion zone at various times.

Buoys have been placed around the site with all boaties and water recreational users (kayakers, swimmers etc) instructed to stay outside the zone.

Below is the coordinates for boaties to add to their GPS systems.
