DISCOVER: Learn about our wonderful cuttlefish at this week's public presentation

Do cuttlefish really have three hearts and why do they come to Whyalla?

These questions and more will be answered when CuttleFest 2019 presents another chance to discover the natural wonders that are the sepia apama ... our giant cuttlefish.

Paul Mazourek, Tourism Assets Development Officer for the City of Whyalla, will be presenting all we know on these unique sea creatures in a fascinating Unique Cuttlefish Public Talk in the Council chambers on Wednesday morning.

Council and Maritime Museum have prepared a number of papers and public lectures which have, in the past, been presented at a national and state level. Now locals have the opportunity to take advantage of this wealth of information with this week's cuttlefish presentation.

Paul has put together the cuttlefish presentation and is excited to share his knowledge with everyone.

"There is so much information about the cuttlefish they truly are fascinating creatures, I am excited to share this knowledge with anyone who wants to learn more about them," Paul said.

"We will be covering absolutely everything we know about the cuttlefish including their environment, anatomy, life cycle and reproduction, diet and hunting technique, threats and a couple of surprising facts.

"I encourage anyone to come along if they are curious to learn more about our unique neighbours of the sea."

This public session is on Wednesday July 24 at 11am in Council chamber on Darling Tce. Everyone is welcome to this free event and no need to book.
