Barrymore Torres and his two children are now officially Australian citizens after taking their vows in the Council chamber with Mayor Clare McLaughlin recently.
Barrymore, and his wife Charo and two children Charry and Brrych, are originally from the Philippines and moved to Australia in 2012 after he got a job working on shipping vessels. Barrymore worked around the major cities before deciding to move to Whyalla for work in 2015.
Wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the big cities Barrymore said Whyalla was the right choice.
“Whyalla is nice and quiet, a perfect place for me and my family," Barrymore said.
"After being in the big cities we knew Whyalla was the lifestyle we wanted, we have now bought a house here which is very exciting.
“It is a dream come true to have my family in Australia with me and kids love it and enjoy going to school here."
Charo is currently waiting for her citizenship to be finalised before joining her husband and children as an Australian citizen herself.
