FULL ACCESS: The southern breakwater of the marina.

The breakwaters at the marina have been fully re-opened following the completion of strengthening work.

Local company Whyalla Earthworks conducted the third stage of the breakwater rock armour installation project over the last two weeks to strengthen the inner-face of the breakwater. This work will shore up this important section of the marina to ensure its continued safety.

The breakwaters were closed completely during weekdays during this work.

Whyalla Earthworks finished the work today (Friday, July 19) and while every care has been taken to place the rocks, the public is asked to be careful of potentially unstable rocks that may take time to settle.

There is still, also, an excavator on-site that will be picked up on Saturday morning. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to take care while this machine is moved.

The City of Whyalla thanks residents for their patience while this vital work has been taking place. It is work that will further ensure our marina and its breakwater walls remain safe and stable for years to come.
