The City of Whyalla has another exciting project coming up and wants local companies, workers and suppliers involved.
Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from builders for the construction of the Whyalla Airport Security Upgrade and extensions to the existing terminal building and associated works.
Council CEO Chris Cowley said it was another opportunity for locals to get involved in a local project with the direct benefits and knock-on effect important for the economic growth of Whyalla and the community.
“Just like we encouraged local labour and suppliers for the jetty project, the Bennett Oval redevelopment and, through the State Government, the new $100m high school, we’d like to see as many local contractors, workers and suppliers as possible involved in this airport project,” Mr Cowley said.
“We are only calling for expressions of interest from builders at this stage.
“We will be shortlisting the builders and then a Request for Tender will go out to the shortlisted builders.”
Builders must provide the information and supporting documentation requested in the EOI Return Schedules.
“Council wants to ensure the successful builder for the construction phase of the project uses local content as much as practicable,” Mr Cowley said.
EOIs can only be uploaded via the Tenders SA website www.tenders.sa.gov.au and close at 2pm on Tuesday December 17, 2019. Businesses must register on the website before downloading documents. EOIs sent to any other email or officer, or lodged by any other means will not be considered. Council reserves the right to extend the closing date.
Queries regarding the EOI can only be emailed to: Technical: Jacobus Pienaar – Principal Consultant, Katanoo Pty Ltd via email: projects@katanoo.com.au Contractual: Diane Aspey – Senior Procurement Officer Whyalla Council via email: diane.aspey@whyalla.sa.gov.au
