Twelve Whyalla projects were on the table for discussion at last night’s City of Whyalla information session.
Council CEO Chris Cowley, elected members and senior Council officers were on hand at the Whyalla Public Library to reveal details of the projects and invite discussions and questions from the public.
Mr Cowley thanked the four members of the public who attended the evening.
“These residents saw a detailed presentation on these 12 projects, asked some great questions and provided us with some valuable feedback,” Mr Cowley said.
“These sessions followed our information sharing and public consultation session held at the Westland Shopping Centre last week.
“Along with our regular communications through our website, social media, letter box drops, adverts and press releases, we will continue to hold these sorts of sessions to keep everyone in the loop and encourage feedback and community ownership of these projects.”
The projects presented last night included the new jetty, Bennett Oval redevelopment, Civic Park solar lights and CCTV, marina moorings, old airport hangar refurbishment, bike and walking paths, stormwater plans, city entrance signs, wetlands wharf, playground upgrades, beach access canopy refurbishment and Hummock Hill lighting.
“Some of the projects have been completed, some are about to start and some are still in the public consultation stage,” Mr Cowley said.
“That’s why these public information and consultation sessions are so important to find out what the community wants as we strive to make our city even better.
“They also allow us to give residents an insight into Council workings and the decision-making process.”
