BOARD MEMBERS: Councillors Clare McLaughlin, Colin Carter and Tom Antonio.

Regional Development Australia Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula (RDAWEP) now has an even stronger Whyalla voice with four  representatives on its new board.

City of Whyalla councillors Deputy Mayor Clare McLaughlin and Colin Carter are returning RDAWEP board members. They have been joined by fellow Whyalla councillor Tom Antonio who is one of two new appointments to the board. Another returning member Jack Velthuizen completes the Whyalla contingent.

Chair of RDAWEP, Bryan Trigg announced the appointment of the organisation’s new board this week.

Endorsed by Federal and State Governments, the board also includes returning members Mr Trigg, Malcolm Catt (Deputy Chair), Allan Suter, Heather Baldock and the second new member Mr Ricky Trenberth.

RDAWEP is the lead agency for driving economic, business and tourism development in the Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula region.

The RDAWEP mission is to facilitate the achievement of sustainable development outcomes and promote the region as a quality destination to live, work, invest and visit. It is part of a national network of 55 regional development agencies established by the Australian Government in 2009.

A City of Whyalla councillor, former deputy mayor and acting mayor of Whyalla, Mr Antonio also owns four electrical retail businesses in Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Port Augusta and Port Pirie.

Ricky Trenberth is operations manager for a large machinery dealership at Tumby Bay.  He has broad experience and comprehensive knowledge of operations and finance.

“The new Board brings to the table an impressive and diverse range of background disciplines and a wealth of experiences and knowledge,” Mr Trigg said.

“The new Board members are great assets in continuing to develop and deliver collaborative projects which support economic development on Eyre Peninsula.”
