Whyalla’s uneARTh Festival has received even further recognition by becoming a national award finalist.

uneARTh has been named as a finalist in the ShowTex Australia Best Small Event (under $150,000)  of The Australian Event Awards and Symposium. This national awards program and conference is for the Australian events industry to foster continued excellence, innovation and unity.

The awards program is the only opportunity for Australian event professionals to compete directly right across the nation and across all facets of the industry to establish which are Australia’s best events and event-related goods, services and innovations. Alongside the awards, the symposium aims to drive industry growth and development, and to ensure Australia remains on the leading edge of the events space worldwide.

Whyalla’s 2018 uneARTh Festival has been included in a list of 37 overall finalists in all Best Event categories. Other events nominated in the large event category include the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Adelaide Fringe 2018, the 29th Annual Byron Bay Bluesfest 2018, the Santo Down Under 2018 bike race and Splendour in the Grass 2017.

Council Events and Tourism Officer, Rebecca Neilson said reaching the finals of such prestigious national awards was an amazing effort for the uneARTh Festival in just its second year. The inaugural uneARTh 2017 event took out an Arts South Australia Ruby Award.

“To make a finalist list among events from throughout Australia puts Whyalla on a national map like none other,” Rebecca said.

“We’re being mentioned and noticed alongside some of the best events under $150,000 in Australia.

“Through the massive reach of these awards, Whyalla and uneARTh is going to be talked about throughout the country.

“This is such a credit to the organising committee, the performers, stall-holders, volunteers and everyone in the Whyalla community that supports this event.”

The Australian Event Awards is the only awards program to recognise great events and achievements not only in their field or sector, but amongst the best across the entire Australian events industry.

Entries are judged by members of the Independent Industry Judging Panel. The winners will be announced at a gala event on the Sunshine Coast on November 21.
