RESTRICTED ACCESS: Work continues this morning on the intersection of Racecourse Road and Nicolson Avenue.
Work on the intersection of Racecourse Road and Nicolson Avenue has recommenced today (Wednesday September 12) with traffic restrictions expected for the remainder of the day.
At present there is no direct access to Racecourse Road from Nicolson Avenue.
The following restrictions are currently in place:
* No right turn from Nicolson Avenue on to Racecourse Road
* No left turn from Nicolson Avenue on to Racecourse Road.
* Right turn with care allowed from Racecourse Road on to Nicolson Avenue
* Speed restrictions in the area around the intersection
There is a detour in place for those wishing to access Racecourse Road from Nicolson Avenue. Motorists can use Russell Street or go via Ekblom Street and Cartledge Avenue to get to Racecourse Road.
Repair work is being done on the surface between the paved area and the road on the Nicolson Avenue half of the intersection. Traffic had pushed the pavers from Racecourse Road into the road surface causing a raised ridge in the road surface of Nicolson Avenue.
Speed restrictions of 25kmh are also in place to ensure the safety of workers and motorists with drivers asked to take care and be patient.
