UNEARTHING WHYALLA: Teresa Coles and Danielle Edwards from the Whyalla Visitor Centre show off the new visitor guide.
It’s on the streets, in our shops, distributed throughout South Australia and digitally around the world.
It is the City of Whyalla’s new Unearth Whyalla Visitors Guide.
This glossy new 36-page guide isn’t just a tourism pamphlet, it is a statement about our great city and what is has to offer visitors and locals alike.
The guide, put together by Council, is a representation of Whyalla’s many tourism attractions and accommodation options but also a show of community and business strength.
Within the pages of the guide is not only everything a visitor could need to find attractions, accommodation, services, eateries and a map to locate them all, it also carries the adverts and listings of more than 50 Whyalla businesses.
That is more than 50 local businesses that are going to come under the notice of our thousands of visitors each year. That is more than 50 businesses that are showing Whyalla is truly open for business and out there promoting themselves and our fantastic city.
What’s more, Council has teamed up with these businesses, and others, to become ambassadors for our city and region. The Unearth Whyalla Visitor Guide is being distributed to these businesses where those behind the counter can further promote our city and region to visitors coming into their premises.
“This is not only a great publication, it is a great example of Whyalla getting on the front foot and building on the wonderful community we have here,” City of Whyalla CEO Chris Cowley said.
“This guide is a must-have for visitors and our businesses are all contributing by distributing it and becoming the face of Whyalla.
“It’s not only the wonderful staff at the Whyalla Visitor and Information Centre that are spreading the word about Whyalla, it’s every business and individuals at these businesses that is making people feel welcome to Whyalla and giving them vital information to make their stay even more enjoyable.
“This shouldn’t be restricted to just businesses with the guide either. We can all, as individuals, tell the world how wonderful Whyalla is.
“This helps everyone because when businesses benefit, the benefits flow down to the community.”
Whyalla Visitor Centre Team Leader Teresa Coles said the Unearth Whyalla Visitor Guide had been distributed throughout 43 accredited visitor centres in South Australia from Port Lincoln to Coober Pedy the Riverland and Mt Gambier as well as sneaking across the border into Broken Hill and Mildura.
“The Visitor Guide presents Whyalla in a new captivating and inspirational way and continues to be the foremost tourism publication for Whyalla,” Teresa said.
“Anyone can pick one up from the Whyalla Visitor and Information Centre on Lincoln Highway, just look out for the yellow “i” or the big ship.”
