ALL HAPPENING: Power is back on for the wetlands barbecues and a cable will be connected to the construction site of the new cafe (in the background) next week.

The power is back on at the Jim Pollock Whyalla Wetlands after an extensive electrical upgrade.

Some of the barbecues and the lights in the toilets have been out of action since the work began on June 6.

All barbecues and the toilets now have full power again.

The upgrades were required to accommodate the load from the barbecues and for the new café being built at the wetlands.

The electrical contractor is scheduled to have a new cable, ready for connection, installed to the café site next week.

Proprietors of the new café welcomed the news and said connected power to the site would speed up the construction wetlandscafework on the eatery which is being cleverly constructed from shipping containers.

The cafe (artist's impression pictured) is located on a site adjoining Broadbent Terrace near the car park and toilets and close to the turfed area.

The new cafe will be a bonus for those that use the walking track around the wetlands, tourists that stop for a break and those just travelling through the Whyalla region.

It will add to Whyalla’s attractions and encourage people to stay a few days and also enjoy everything else Whyalla has to offer.
