GREAT SHOW: B2M: Mamanta band members with, left to right, Middleback Arts Centre manager Ryan Sutherland, Mayor Lyn Breuer and Council Arts and Cultural Facilitator Deb Hughes.
Mayor Lyn Breuer has extended a return invitation to the musicians from B2M: Mamanta.
Mayor Breuer was one the many who witnessed the melodic band when it performed at the Middleback Arts Centre on Whyalla Show weekend this month. The Mayor had the opportunity to catch with the B2M (Bathurst Island to Melville Island) singers at the arts centre and told them they were welcome back any time.
“These singers are just so talented and they blew everyone at with their performance,” Mayor Breuer said.
“It didn’t matter what sort of music you are into, this band was something else and something everyone who loves music would enjoy.
“It was such a pleasure to have these musicians performing here in Whyalla all the way from the Top End.”
B2M: Mamanta is a seven-piece band from the Tiwi Islands, north of Darwin. It has gained permission from their elders to use traditional Tiwi chants and blend them with modern musical elements.
They’ve been hailed as “Australia’s answer to the Backstreet Boys” by international media and have conquered China, East Timor, Taiwan and Ireland during their extensive overseas touring.

Mayor Breuer said she would love to see them back soon and mentioned next year’s uneARTh Festival as a possible opportunity. She said their performance was more than just a concert.
“It was a privilege to have such and well-travelled and acclaimed band here in Whyalla,” Mayor Breuer said.
“The music was fantastic but they also told the story of their culture, it was an all-round show.
“They also performed at the Show and were obviously having a great time while making the most of their visit to Whyalla.
“I’d love to see this band back for another performance and I’m sure I’m not alone there.”
