Whyalla artists will be going on show this week with a special exhibition in the main street.

Works from the Drawing on Country project will be on display from Friday this week in the former MacAllan’s Giftstore as a South Australian Living Arts (SALA) event.

Run in co-operation by Country Arts SA and the City of Whyalla, the Drawing on Country project was held in April this year where people of all ages and abilities were invited to take part in a landscape painting project on the Whyalla foreshore. Artist Merritt Watson was present to help local artists interpret their local landscape.

NICE WORKS: Some of the artworks ready to go up in the exhibition.

“We had a great group of artists who spent the day in the sunshine responding to our local environment,” Council Arts and Cultural Facilitator Deb Hughes said.

“We are opening an exhibition of the works produced on the day in the former MacAllan’s giftsore as a SALA event and we would love everyone to attend.”

The exhibition will officially open on Friday, August 3 at 5.30pm with refreshments available and most works available for sale. The exhibition is then open every Tuesday to Friday, 10.30am to 5pm, until August 31 in the former giftstore located at 6 Forsyth Street.
