Cuttlefest 2018 is underway with the first of its dives to see the wonderful cuttlefish this weekend.
In the meantime, there’s a great Pop-up Marine Discovery Centre at the Whyalla Public Library for those that want to learn a bit more about cuttlefish and our marine environment.
The marine discovery centre allows you to discover Whyalla’s unique marine life without getting wet.
The display includes a touch table with skulls and shells, a microscope to get a closer looks at things like sand and coral, discovery sand pits for the little ones as well as information about local marine life such as cuttlefish, samphire and dolphins.
School groups are welcome. Children visiting outside of school hours can bring their Children’s University passbook to be stamped.
Janet Ashman from the library said the display was impressive and snapped some photos to share.
“It looks fantastic and a lot of people will be interested in it,” Janet said.
The Pop-up Marine Discovery Centre will be at the library until July 6.
