OPEN AGAIN: The intersection of Nicolson Avenue and Racecourse Road today.
Council crews have re-opened the intersection of Nicolson Avenue and Racecourse Road to all traffic today (Tuesday, September 11).
The intersection and surrounding area had extensive signage pointing to speed restrictions and a restriction on right turns from Nicolson Ave on to Racecourse Rd and from Racecourse Road on to Nicolson Avenue due to work being done on the pavers and road surface.
The signage was deemed to be a potential danger with today’s high winds with the decision made to temporarily backfill the remaining holes in the road surface, re-open the intersection and remove the signage.
Work will recommence on this intersection tomorrow (Wednesday, September 12), weather permitting, where the remedial work on the paver and road surface will be finished. There will, again, be traffic and speed restrictions in place while work is in progress.
While the intersection has been re-opened, drivers are asked to be careful at this point in the two roads and, as always, drive sensibly and to the conditions.
