The City of Whyalla garden crews have been kept busy in today’s gusty conditions with several incidents of falling trees.
Significant tree falls were cleaned up by the Council crews on Head and Skurray streets, along the Lincoln Highway and one large tree from a residence near Samaritan College. The work being done by our crews certainly isn’t going unnoticed either as they’ve going been flat out all day.
Lisa Colaruotolo sent us an appreciative message at 1.30pm today.
“Great job by your guys, I called up only 20 mins ago, saying we have a council tree down (non urgent, seemed to be safe and not near the road) your guys are already on the job,” Lisa said.
“Thank-you and good luck in this wind today.”
Council would like to remind people to be careful in these windy conditions and be wary around large trees. Loose objects should also be secured in back yards.
To report a hazardous situation with a fallen tree, call Council on 8640 3444. If it is an urgent situation call emergency services on 000.
