Electrical upgrade at wetlands

There is an electrical upgrade being conducted at the wetlands which will affect barbecues and the toilets

Some of the barbecues at the Jim Pollock Whyalla Wetlands will be out of action for a few days in June as electrical upgrades are carried out.

The upgrades are required to accommodate the new cafe being built at the wetlands.

You may have noticed the shipping containers already at the wetlands. These are being cleverly converted into the cafe which will service this wonderful area of our city.

The new cafe will be a bonus for those that use the walking track around the wetlands, tourists that stop for a break and those just travelling through Whyalla.  It will add to Whyalla’s attractions and encourage people to stay a few days and also enjoy everything else Whyalla has to offer.

To enable the electrical upgrade, the power will be out at the wetlands from June 6 to June 15. This also means the toilets will have no lighting and therefore will be unavailable at night.

If people want to have a barbecue during those dates, they can still use the barbecues installed at the central shelter located in the middle of the wetlands site as that has a separate power feed.

Council apologises for any inconvenience during this critical upgrade.

There will be an update released when the power and all the barbecues are back in action.
