The Whyalla City Council has elected Clare McLaughlin as Deputy Mayor.
Deputy Mayor McLaughlin was elected unanimously at last night’s Council meeting. She said she is delighted to be able to serve as Deputy Mayor with the full support of Council.
“It’s an honour to be elected but also to have the support of my fellow Councillors,” said Deputy Mayor McLaughlin.
“Council is getting on with the business of delivering services to the people of Whyalla,” she said.
The Deputy Mayor vacancy came about when former Deputy Mayor, Jenny Barnes accepted a position with the Whyalla Council and resigned from her role as Councillor.
Whyalla Mayor, Lyn Breuer said she was looking forward to working with Cr McLaughlin in her new role as Deputy Mayor.
“Clare is dedicated to Whyalla and ensuring that it has a strong and prosperous future. It will be terrific to have her in the role as Deputy Mayor,” said Mayor Breuer.
