Crews to the rescue

Workers from the City of Whyalla depot jumped into action this afternoon to clean up a rubbish spill in Patten Street.

Well done team!

A big thanks to a bunch of council depot workers who jumped into action late this afternoon.

After a resident reported a whirly whirly had gone down Patten Street and knocked all the bins over, causing a traffic hazard with rubbish spread everywhere, these workers ignored their knock-off time and rushed out there to help the police clear up the mess.

Not a great job at the best of times but when you consider it was about 45-degrees at the time ... you've got to take your hats off to these workers.

This wouldn't have happened if the resident hadn't reported it to council, so thanks also to that person who acted so promptly and got a prompt response from our team and the police.

All enquiries to council can be made via our customer request line https://www.whyalla.sa.gov.au/page.aspx?u=774

Or by ringing 8640 3444.

As can be seen on the picture below, all enquiries are recorded and forwarded straight to the department responsible.
