Council CEO Chris Cowley said it was a responsible budget set in a tight fiscal environment which provides for new infrastructure, maintaining existing assets as well as the continued provision of existing services.
“Council has a responsibility to its ratepayers to keep rates at an affordable level but also a requirement to future generations to ensure Council remains viable and capable of serving the city,” Mr Cowley said.
“It is now up to us as a Council to start working hard to deliver all the programs funded in the budget while maintaining all the regular services for the community.
“There are some exciting new projects on the table and we are continuing to work hard and deliver on projects already funded including the Wilson Park upgrade, new playground equipment around the city and the new jetty, to name a few.”
