Pick-ups for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday go back one day.

Are your bins normally picked up on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday?

Due to the Christmas holidays they will now be picked up the NEXT DAY for two weeks STARTING NEXT WEEK.

This has been done to eliminate a backlog that would have been caused by the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day (Tuesday) pick-ups going back one day due to the public holidays.

Our hardworking Cleanaway crews deserve those days off, so all pick-ups normally scheduled for the Tuesday Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and the following Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, will be pushed back one day (that includes Saturday pick-ups for those normally picked up Friday).

It will ensure everyone gets their bins - red, yellow and green - emptied at this important time of the year.

And remember, those food scraps can go in the organic green-lidded bin. Perhaps just freeze those prawn shells until the day your green bin is due to go out and don’t put them in a plastic bag, wrap them in newspaper.

So to get this straight again … for the period between Tuesday December 25, 2018 and Friday, January 4, 2019, if your bin is normally picked up on Tuesday it will be picked up on Wednesday, if your bin is normally picked up on Wednesday it will be picked up on Thursday and if your bin is normally picked up on Friday it will be picked up on Saturday.

This applies to bin pick-ups on the following days:

Tuesday: December 25

Wednesday: December 26

Thursday: December 27

Friday: December 28

Tuesday: January 1

Wednesday: January 2

Thursday: January 3

Friday, January 4

Monday pick-ups are not affected.

Normal service will resume on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
