The State Government's Fund My Neighbourhood program has $40m for community projects

Well done Whyalla!

You’ve answered the call and put your claim in for a share of the $40 million available in the Fund My Neighbourhood program.

The State Government launched this program in August. It is a program that invited you to suggest and then choose projects to improve your local neighbourhood.

One-off grants of between $10,000 and $150,000 are available for ideas as diverse as small local infrastructure upgrades, through to initiatives that strengthen neighbourhood cohesion.

logoWhyalla has responded in grand style and put up a great range of great ideas to improve our city and our neighbourhoods.

Now it is time for the whole of Whyalla to get involved.

This is a free hit for community projects

"All we need is for as many people as possible to register and vote for their favourite projects from  those suggested by your fellow community people," City of Whyalla CEO Chris Cowley said.

"Whyalla individuals and groups have put a lot of time and effort into putting these ideas together, they just need you to register and vote for your top three to five.

"The more people we have voting, the more chance Whyalla has of receiving a larger chunk of this State Government money to benefit our city … to benefit everyone."

To help people to vote, council officers Ann Ryan and Jon Ortlieb will be at the Whyalla Public Library on Thursday, October 26 from 10-11am. Ann and Jon will help people log on using the library computers and show you how to cast your vote. All you need is a mobile phone number, Facebook account or email address.

There will also be a voting information workshop held in Whyalla on Tuesday November 7 at the Bunyara Christian Community Centre, 157 Nicolson Avenue, Whyalla Norrie, from 2-3pm.

Or you can go to the Fund My Neighbourhood website https://fundmyneighbourhood.yoursay.sa.gov.au/ and go to the “register” link on the top right hand corner, fill out some details and then view and vote for the projects you think should happen in Whyalla.

It is completely confidential and you can only vote once but it is also easy and interesting to view all the projects that have been put forward.

Remember: The more votes we get the more chance we are of getting some of this cash for our community.

Have your vote to benefit our community.
