The City Plaza Traders Association will be getting into the Christmas spirit with their Christmas Street Party on Saturday, December 16.
President Liz Attard said a lot of hard work had been put in by the traders to get the party up and running.
“We’re hoping the weather is good as everyone does with an event like this.
"If it’s a hot day come down for an hour or two, you don’t have to stay for the whole four hours.
The street party is usually well-attended with thousands flocking to the main street to enjoy the event. This year’s party will have a fancy dress theme.
“The whole family can dress up, whether it’s as superheroes, fairies or cartoon characters. We have prizes going all day for best dressed, babies right up to adults can dress up,” Ms Attard said.
“The street party has always been about the traders giving back to the community, they support us during the year so we like to give a little bit back.
“We want to bring in some visitors from outside Whyalla as well.”
Des’s Cabs will be sponsoring courtesy buses for the party, with times to be posted on the City Plaza Traders Facebook page.
Last year saw the community flock to the main street to enjoy the Christmas Street Party, with a wide variety of entertainment on offer.
Due to limited funding the street party will not feature fireworks and will instead be held during the day from 11am to 3pm.
