Set your imagination free for uneARTh Festival
Organisers of the inaugural uneARTh Festival are calling on local schools, individuals and community groups to get creative and participate in the exciting new event.
uneARTh Festival is set to debut over the Easter long weekend, combining culture, colour, fun and festivities into an exciting two-day event.
As part of the festival, organisers are calling on local schools, community groups, creative individuals, and arts organisations to set their imaginations free and produce a themed sculpture to be displayed throughout the duration of the festival in the uneARThly Gardens.
Participants are being encouraged to be as creative as possible, with only one rule; each creation must feature a mythical horn.
The council is offering exciting prizes over two categories;
- Most creative overall
- Best use of materials
Whyalla City Council Community Arts Officer Deborah Hughes said the sculpture competition provided local schools, groups and individuals an opportunity to contribute something to this exciting new event.
“We want the community to get involved and add even more creative flare to uneARTh Festival,” Ms Hughes said.
“uneARTh Festival will be something truly unique and inspiring, and we are really excited to be offering local people the opportunity to contribute to this new event, and hope that the community will get behind it by entering something in the sculpture competition.”
Sculptures must be completed by Friday, April 7, and can either be delivered to the council’s office in Darling Terrace, or can be collected by council staff on Monday, April 10.
Judging will be undertaken throughout the week leading up to the festival, and winners will be announced at a special presentation during the event on Saturday, April 15.
Groups are encouraged to enter as many sculptures as they wish, either as an overall group contribution, or as various contributions from age groups.
To indicate your intention to participate, complete an entry form, available on the council’s website at www.whyalla.sa.gov.au/unearthfestival or at the council’s civic building in Darling Terrace.
