The pre-schoolers had a colourful time at the Whyalla Public Library's Story Time this week.

The pre-schoolers made the most of Story Time at the library this week before a two week break over the school holidays.

doughThe little ones had a very colourful morning with play dough fun.

They enjoyed some finger and handplay songs to start the morning with songs like Open Shut Them, Twinkle Twinkle and The Spot Song.

They then read Press Here, a very interactive book written by Herve Tullet.  Children got to press, tip, poke, shake and clap along with the story. There was something for them to do on every page.

The coloured spots in the story, changed with each turn of the page, sometimes there were more spots, sometimes they changed size and other times we saw different colours. It is definitely a story that can be read again and again.

It was then down to playing with the dough. Each child received their own bag of play dough containing four colours (red, blue, yellow and green), there were also pattern and activity sheets on each tablefor the children to use as well as household objects such as spoons, forks, paddlepop sticks, cardboard rolls and patty pans.

Without doubt the favourite item was the potato ricer which produced a rainbow of squiggly dough, much to their delight.

Story Time makes way for the School Holiday program during the two-week October school break but will be back again when the older kids go back to school.
