neighbourhood funding

Calling all neighbourhood-minded people in Whyalla … the State Government wants to help you out.

There will be a Fund My Neighbourhood information session at 2pm until 4pm today at the Girl Guides Hall on Rozee Street in Whyalla. The state government has issued an open invitation for groups and individuals to come along with ideas and questions.

No need to book, just rock up and find out what it is all about.

Fund My Neighbourhood is a $40 million program that invites you to suggest and then choose projects to improve your local neighbourhood. One-off grants of between $10,000 and $150,000 are available for ideas as diverse as small local infrastructure upgrades, through to initiatives that strengthen neighbourhood cohesion.

As a South Australian resident, you can submit an idea to improve your local neighbourhood.

Once all the ideas are submitted they will be checked for eligibility and then loaded to the Fund My Neighbourhood website.  That’s when individuals and groups in the community can go online to decide what gets funded in our neighbourhood.

What’s the process?

  1. Start thinking about a project to improve your neighbourhood.
  2. Check the site to see if others have already suggested your idea or a similar idea.
  3. Read the eligibility criteria to make sure your idea can be funded. Also start thinking about an organisation that you can work with to deliver your idea.
  4. Write a great submission – tell us why your project will improve the neighbourhood.
  5. Submit a great image of your project.  Your application is your ‘pitch’ to the community to support your idea. Make it a good one!
  6. Submit your idea by Friday September 8, 2017.

Who can submit an idea?

Anyone over the age of 18 who lives in South Australia can submit an idea to improve their neighbourhood. Projects do need a sponsoring organisation to manage the funds

What can be funded?
