Kids have the perfect opportunity these holidays to learn some amazing skills.
Imagine being able to produce your own professional-looking cards for birthdays, special occasions or Christmas.
This is what the Cards for Kids workshop at the Whyalla Public Library will be able to teach kids 5 years and up. It is the first of the library’s school holiday activities and it promises to be not only informative but extremely enjoyable on Tuesday, October 3 starting at 10.30am.
It isn’t that hard to produce cards your kids will be proud to give to their family and friends.
The library has professional card maker Ruth Sutton holding the Cards for Kids session. It’s not just writing on a bit of cardboard and folding it in two, Ruth will show kids some of the tricks of the trade to produce some wonderful cards with a variety of special tools.
“Ruth has been here before and it was amazing to see what she can do and what she can teach the kids to do,” Children’s Program Co-ordinator Chris Barsby said.
“The last time she was here she showed us how to use special powders for embossing and produced some lovely cards.
“Not only will you produce some nice cards, the kids learn some very valuable skills.”
This is a hands-on workshop but kids under 10 need to be accompanied by a caregiver.
It’s important to remember that bookings are essential for the library activities.
They can be made by phoning the library on 8645 7891 and this can be done any time over the weekend including Monday’s public holiday as the library will be open. The Cards for Kids workshops have a small $5 fee.
