The Lions GFG Alliance Carols in the Park is just around the corner

The invitation has been sent to the North Pole and it’s hard to see why Santa wouldn’t want to attend this year’s Lions GFG Alliance Carols in the Park in Whyalla.

The annual event just keeps getting better and better. It’s no wonder it is one of the favourite Christmas events in Whyalla and something Santa wouldn’t want to miss on Sunday, December 10 in Civic Park.

carolsGFG Alliance, the new owners of the Whyalla Steelworks and Middleback mining operations, definitely don’t want to miss it so they’ve jumped on board as naming rights sponsors to help spread the Christmas cheer to finish off what has been a great year for Whyalla.

Lions GFG Alliance Carols in the Park will feature another talented bunch of  carols favourites, first timers and welcome-back entertainers.

Returning by popular demand is the legendary Gavin Chandler along with 2017 Whyalla Recording Scholarship winner Breeze Millard.

Young talents Emma Taylor and JJ Payne will also delight along with Romy Foote and the always-popular Glitterbugs.

Whydale Calisthenics Club will be making a return to provide some thrilling entertainment while the Come & Strum Ukulele Band will join the Whyalla Community Brass as pre-show entertainment.

The wonderful dancing Namaste Whyalla group will make its debut while award-winning  local entertainers Mark Tempany and Alison Hams will also find themselves centre-stage.

It’s not only this amazing range of entertainers on offer, you can get involved to with the Carols Community Choir. Here’s your chance to be on stage and sing your heart out. Go to http://bit.ly/2zJII42

The carols night is always a very special night on the Whyalla events calendar and this year’s event is again being organised by the Lions clubs of Whyalla in conjunction with Stormfront Productions and other service clubs in Whyalla with support and sponsorship from the City of Whyalla.

Stageshow co-ordinator Alison Hams from Stormfront said the GFG Alliance Carols in the Park was all about the wonderful Christmas spirit in Whyalla.

“It is a couple of hours of fantastic entertainment and the very best of Christmas spirit,” Alison said.

“You couldn’t find a better event for the whole family and it is always such a happy and friendly night.

“All you need to bring along is yourself, perhaps a blanket or deck chairs, and your singing voice.”

Glow items, food and drinks are available for sale on the night - and members of the crowd can donate to the annual Carols Christmas Collection which has seen Lions donate well over $25,000 to worthy local causes over the last decade.

It is a free-entry event with the entertainment getting underway at 7.15pm but everyone is welcome to come down early, find their place and prepare themselves for this special night of entertainment.
