Council’s investigations have revealed that a total of 12 customers purchased mulch from its landfill facility from March 2017 which has been used on a limited number of sites across the city. To date we have had 9 people call and register their details onto our database, these people have been contacted and we will be making every effort to contact the remaining customers as a matter of priority.
The EPA have issued Council with an order to remove all material that has left the landfill site and ensure that this is disposed of in an appropriate manner. Council will be engaging an independent contractor who has the ability to provide certification that all sites are cleared of any risk from asbestos to undertake these works.
We are continuing to review public spaces to ensure that there is no contamination on these sites.
