The City of Whyalla joined the Adelaide Crows mania today on the eve of the big AFL grand final against the Richmond Tigers.
Although the decorating of the front counter of the Civic Building offices wouldn’t have pleased every football fan in the building (insert here many of the Port Adelaide fans working for council) it brought out the true colours of many staff as they donned the tri-colours for the day.
There was, however, one Richmond supporter happy to fly the flag for the yellow and black. Replying to the call out for all Crows fans to assemble for a photo, Michelle Armstrong wasn’t going to let her beloved Tigers be left out of the picture.
“Why should I, we’ve got the best colours in the competition,” she said.
“We’ll win it by 17 points and Dusty Martin will win the Norm Smith medal.”
Unfortunately for “Shell” she was vastly outnumbered as the rest of the staff that support the Crows hovered around her.
Jane Hayward tipped a 3-goal win to the Crows and said Rory Sloane was going to win the Norm Smith. Michelle Tucker was a bit more ambitious but for good reason.
“I’m tipping a 42-point win because I couldn’t stand it to be any closer and Tex will win the Norm Smith.” Michelle said.
Elaine Wilkinson agreed on Taylor “Tex’ Walker winning the medal and said the Crows would get up by 14 points while Nikita Isaacson wanted a close game because she “likes an intense game” and thought Rory Sloane would win the Norm Smith.
Jonalin Steart and her daughter Emma, 9, chimed in with Crows by 23 points and 10 goals respectively while Jonalin went for Tex for the medal and Emma though Eddie Betts would take home Normy.
