The City of Whyalla has received reports from residents about people knocking on doors claiming to be from council and offering to inspect, and spray, noxious weeds in people’s backyards.
Council advises that it does not offer these services and that residents should not let these people any further on to their property. Further more, they should ring police to report the matter on 131 444.
Council does not provide a weed spraying service for resident’s backyards and any service provided for residents is done with an official work order. When going about their business, council workers will always be able to provide official identification to prove who they are and why there are there.
The Whyalla Police have been notified of these incidents and they have been noted on patrol information updates.
