Regional round on its way to Whyalla
An exciting display of soccer will be on offer in Whyalla when PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia teams Adelaide Comets and Adelaide City battle it out as part of the NSR Australia Regional Round, brought to Whyalla by Football Federation SA.
The premier league soccer match will be held on Saturday, March 19 as part of a continuing partnership between Football Federation South Australia (FFSA), Whyalla Soccer Association, and Whyalla City Council.
This year’s game will be the fourth match played as part of the partnership, which has brought a number of FFSA’s teams to face off in Whyalla as part of its NSR Australia Regional Round program.
An array of exciting activities, including bubble soccer, sumo suits, and face painting will be on offer from 11.30am on Saturday, March 19, before Adelaide Comets and Adelaide City take to the field to face off in their round four match at 3pm.
Tickets to the game are available from all local soccer clubs and at the gate on the day, at a cost of $10 for adults, $5 for concession card holders, and free for children under 16 years of age.
STARCLUB community and recreation field officer Alberto Salatino said the council was pleased to be bringing the regional round to Whyalla for the fourth year in a row.
“This is always a very exciting event, not only for local soccer fans, but for the whole community,” Mr Salatino said.
“This is a very unique opportunity for our residents to see two major league teams face off right in their own backyard, and I strongly encourage sports fans and anyone looking for an enjoyable day out to come and take advantage of the fun activities on offer before enjoying the clash between Adelaide Comets and Adelaide City.”
This year’s event is being kicked off with an exciting sportsman’s night that will feature North Eastern MetroStars Soccer Club player and Fox Sports presenter Travis Dodd answering questions at an official sportsman’s night.
The dinner event will be held at Steel United Soccer Club from 6pm on Friday, March 18, and will include a three course meal by Head Catering, and the opportunity to get up close and personal with Dodd, as well as officials from FFSA.
Tickets to the dinner are available from tiny.cc/ffsasportsman and Whyalla City Council’s civic building for $50 for adults, and $15 for children, which includes a two course meal, and the opportunity to interact directly with Dodd and FFSA officials.
