Open air cinema to complement February summer markets

The second summer markets event is just around the corner, and this time will offer something completely new and different to the Whyalla community.

This month’s market, scheduled for Saturday, February 27, will feature a wide variety of unique and boutique market stalls, complemented by an open air cinema.

The open air cinema screening will feature two popular family friendly movies, with a screening of Grease at about 8.15pm, once the sun has gone down.

Whyalla City Council launched its first series of summer markets in January, with the inaugural event proving to be a huge success, and the February event will be no exception.

Event coordinator Rebecca Neilson said the council was looking forward to providing another quality twilight market, following on from the success of the January event.

“We were overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received from the January markets, and we are incredibly excited to see how the community responds to what we have planned for the next event,” Mrs Neilson said.

“The aim of these markets is to offer high quality, unique, boutique items that you can’t find anywhere else.

“We were incredibly impressed by the quality of stall holders received for the January event, and have received even more applications for quality stalls for the February market.”

The February summer market will be held at the Whyalla Foreshore from 5pm until 9pm on Saturday, February 27.

Boutique items available from the local stalls include homemade candles, Nutrimetics, children’s clothes, gifts and toys, jewellery, doll’s clothes, blankets and homewares, and lollies.

A delicious array of food and drinks will be on offer on the day, with steak sandwiches, gourmet hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, milkshakes, and delicious homemade treats.

Residents are encouraged to bring their chairs, blankets, or bean bags down to the foreshore to watch the film in comfort on the lawn.
