Free training to assist local clubs managing irrigation
Local sporting clubs, groups and organisations managing their own irrigation are being encouraged to attend a free training session to upskill club members in irrigation management.
Whyalla City Council, in conjunction with the Office for Recreation and Sport, is inviting local groups to attend the free session focusing on Irrigated Public Open Spaces (IPOS) at the council’s civic building on Thursday, September 22 from 6pm to 8.30pm.
The session is aimed at upskilling participants in irrigation management, providing valuable information about irrigation efficiency and water management, irrigation terminology and associated units to increase their clubs’ understanding of the resources available to them.
Whyalla mayor Lyn Breuer said she encouraged representatives from local organisations to attend the training session to benefit their club.
“This free session will provide valuable information to clubs currently managing their own irrigation system,” Ms Breuer said.
“The matter of taking care of assets and infrastructure can be quite difficult, and often expensive for local not-for-profit groups, and this training session is sure to provide important information that can assist local clubs in getting the most of the infrastructure they are caring for, as well as how to keep water costs down.”
Participants will receive a copy of the IPOS Code of Practice Operational Guide to further benefit their club.
Registrations are essential and must be received one week prior to each training session.
