First summer market a huge success
Hundreds of people flocked to the Whyalla Foreshore on Saturday evening to enjoy the very first summer markets.
The first of a series of market events to be held throughout the summer months, the January summer markets featured an impressive array of market stalls, including unique boutique items such as body scrubs and bath bombs, stationary, hair wrapping, brand name cosmetics, and homemade items such as candles, doll’s clothes, and children’s toys and clothes.
An impressive array of food was also on offer from the many food stalls, with gourmet hotdogs, ice cream, steak sandwiches, drinks, and carnival style food.
CSA Amusements also offered entertainment and rides for the whole family, with water walkers, the Extreme Thriller, bungee trampolines, and the King Croc Supa Slide.
Whyalla City Council community events officer Rebecca Neilson said the first market event had been a huge success.
“We am very pleased that the very first summer market event was such a huge hit, and that residents were able to spend an enjoyable evening at our Whyalla Foreshore,” Mrs Neilson said.
“As soon has 5pm hit, there were people everywhere, and we have received very positive feedback from the stall holders who were there on the day, many of whom are excited to be attending the next market as well.
“We are very much looking forward to putting on the next summer market event, scheduled for Saturday, February 27, which will feature even more quality stalls, with different entertainment lined up and a whole lot of fun in store.”
The next summer markets event is set to feature live and local music, as well as some grassroots fun and games with totem soccer, totem tennis, badminton, and much more.
Event organisers are currently taking applications from stall holders for the February markets.
Stall holders interested in showcasing their products at the next summer markets are invited to contact Mrs Neilson on 8640 3444 or via email at rebecca.neilson@whyalla.sa.gov.au for more information.
