Feedback sought on Northern Coastline Masterplan
A masterplan for further development of the Northern Coastline is progressing as part of a joint partnership between the City of Whyalla and Regional Development Australia Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula.
Extensive research, data collection and analysis, and consultation with key stakeholders was undertaken in the first stage of the project.
A draft masterplan and precinct plans have been prepared as part of stage two of the project.
Residents and stakeholders of Whyalla are now being invited to provide input on the draft plans, which include a summary of the draft masterplan, the masterplan, and precinct plans.
These documents are available for viewing on the council’s website, www.whyalla.sa.gov.au/northerncoastline
Residents are being asked to provide their feedback on the plan via an online survey, which is also available on the council’s website.
The survey will be available online from Friday, July 29 to Friday, August 26.
Residents can also provide feedback on the draft plan at an information stall to be held at Westland Shopping Centre on Thursday, August 11 from 11am to 2pm.
Acting mayor Tom Antonio said the development of a masterplan for the Northern Coastline would provide many exciting opportunities for Whyalla.
“The northern coastline is an excellent parcel of land, and the opportunities to develop adventure style attractions, provide infrastructure and facilities for visitors and tourists and to really make use of that area as an economic driver for the city is incredibly exciting,” Mr Antonio said.
“A lot of work has gone into the development of this draft masterplan, and the council strongly encourages members of the public to take an interest, review the draft documents and provide feedback so we can bring the entire community along on the journey to develop the northern coastline.”
Community feedback will be reviewed and considered before the finalisations to the masterplan are made.
