Escape the heat at the summer markets

The first of a series of exciting summer markets is nearly here.

Whyalla City Council is hosting a series of summer market events at Whyalla Foreshore to ensure families are making the most of the summer months.

The first market event will be held on Saturday, January 16 from 5pm, and residents of all ages are invited to come down and enjoy the atmosphere of the summer markets.

With an exciting array of delicious carnival style food, unique boutique market stalls and exhilarating rides and amusements offered by CSA Amusements, the event is sure to have something to excite every member of the family.

Acting mayor Tom Antonio said the summer markets were aimed at getting families out of the house and providing a fun and productive way of making the most of the summer heat.

“We all know it gets very hot in Whyalla over the summer, but instead of lounging around under the air conditioner, why not come down to the Whyalla Foreshore and enjoy the nice sea breeze and treat yourself to some delicious food and exciting amusements,” Mr Antonio said.

“This is the perfect opportunity for residents and visitors to come and make the most of the jewel in our crown, the Whyalla Foreshore.

“The foreshore is looking magnificent; a lot of work has gone into making it the perfect place for families to enjoy, so we really want people to come down and see what we’ve done at the foreshore, and enjoy the fantastic facilities, such as the playground and lovely boardwalk.

“We are very pleased to have CSA Amusements on board for the very first summer market event, so while the kids enjoy the fun of the rides, parents can have a look at the impressive range of unique boutique items being offered by local stall holders while enjoying the beautiful Whyalla Foreshore.”

Boutique items available from the local stalls include homemade candles, nail wraps, Nutrimetics, scroll wood sawing, children’s clothes, gifts and toys, jewellery, doll’s clothes, blankets and homewares, and lollies.

Carnival style food will be on offer on the day, with fairy floss, hot donuts, steak sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, slushies and delicious homemade treats.

The Whyalla Beach Café will also be open, offering its regular menu.

“This is a very exciting event for the community and I am pleased that the council is able to offer something different for the community to enjoy,” Mr Antonio said.

“We hope that community members will make the most of this exciting event and will come down to the Whyalla Foreshore and spend an enjoyable summer evening at the first of many summer markets.”

The first summer market will be held on Saturday, January 16 from 5pm until 9pm at the Whyalla Foreshore.
