Premiership Cups visit Whyalla
The Premiership Cups visited Whyalla recently, with community members heading down to the library to take a photo and later, attending the kick-and-catch at Memorial Oval!
70 years since Queen Elizabeth's first visit to Whyalla
March 20 commemorated the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Whyalla on March 20, 1954, during which she officially opened the Flinders & Freycinet Lookout.
In a quote from Whyalla News in March 1986 ''Queen Elizabeth II spoke of the progress Whyalla made since her last visit in 1954 and commended the faith shown in the city by its citizens and State and federal Governments.''
Citizenship Ceremony
Council held another successful Group Citizenship Ceremony, with eleven Whyalla residents taking their pledge, becoming Australian Citizens! Council choses several significant dates each year to hold group Citizenship Ceremonies. The ceremony was chosen to take place during the very relevant Harmony Week. This is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Celebrating their Australian Citizenship in the photo, along with Mayor Phill Stone, is Left to Right, Mrs Rajinder BHULLAR, Mr Manjinder BHULLAR, Mrs Vinodini RAVICHANDRAN, Mrs Fanny DIAZ ALCARAZ, Mr Prince ALEX NIRMAL RAJ and Mrs Jecintha ALEX NIRMAL RAJ. Help us in congratulating our latest Australian Citizens!

Stingers take a dive
The Stingers have returned to the Recreation Centre's 25-metre pool for a successful Whyalla Swim Carnival, now it's the community's turn to get back in the water following recent upgrades, with the 25-metre pool now open to the public. Swimming lessons will also restart next week (2 April).
Whyalla Stingers Swim Club's Shaune Beaty said the carnival went really well - "The YMCA did a great job of hosting and we received a lot of positive comments from the community. The Stingers club is excited to see the completed project and we'd like to thank Council for ensuring the pool was open and available for the carnival."
We'll continue to provide updates on the remainder of the upgrades as they progress.
Councillor Listening Post
If you've got a question for your Council Members, then be sure to head along to this weekend's Easter Market on the foreshore and take advantage of our Councillor Listening Post. Several of the Council Members will be at the event between 11am and 5pm this Saturday 30 March, ready to answer your questions and provide valuable information on all things Council. It's also a chance to find out why they're passionate about Whyalla and serving this great community!
Whyalla HMAS turns Purple
The HMAS Whyalla turned Purple on March 26 to show support of Purple Day and The Epilepsy Centre! Strategic Management Plan Community Consultation
Council currently has its suite of Strategic Management Plans out for community feedback. These are high-level planning documents, designed to allow Council to make long-term decisions. We're keen to hear if there's any areas residents think have been missed, or any that are included that they think shouldn't be a priority.
