Resource Recovery - Where does it all go?
Goes to the refinery in Adelaide, processed and then used as a low grade oil.
Comes out to the landfill site for mulching. Each year Council produces approximately 6000 cubix metre of mulch.
In the past 3000 tonnes of this valuable resource would have gone to landfill taking up valuable airspace and producing greenhouse gasses as the organics breakdown.
Onesteel recycling now pick up and recycle approx. 800 tonne of steel/metal.
Metals that contain iron.
Metals that do not contain iron.
Concrete and Rock
All concrete, rock and rubble are stock piled together only one that is separate is bitumen. Approx. 10000 tonne.
We recycle any type of batteries, Car batteries get recycled by Onesteel Recycling and Veolia recycle all other types of batteries. There will be battery bins in place for the public to drop off at the Council building and library (car batteries cannot be dropped off in these bins)
We recycle cardboard which Veolia pick up and recycle. Cardboard fees are on our fees and charges.
We now take up to 5 litres. Check the updated fees and charges for more information on July 1st.
We now recycle any type of light globes which mitre 10 recycle for us.
